I have a 3 year old chocolate and black lab/pit mix with white patches on his stomach. His name is zeus and he is a great dog. I am having to move out where i live and i can not take him with me. He is good with kids and other animals. He knows commands like sit, lay down, stay, also he will let you know when he has to go to the bathroom by walking up to you and grunting. It would be great if you have a yard for him to play in because he is a energetic dog and also he doesn't like to be left alone for too long so i suggest if you do leave him for awhile, invest in a crate.
